Inspection.

There are several reasons to inspect your vehicle.
If you are selling a vehicle you need a RWC (Roadworthy certificate) to be able to sell your car.
If you are buying a vehicle, for piece of your mind we recommend a pre purchase vehicle inspection to be sure you are paying right money for the right vehicle.
COI (Certificate of Inspection) is used for vehicles like Uber, Taxi Limo, Bus, Tow Truck. This inspection is required to be done every year.

What does a RWC vehicle inspection involve?

A Roadworthy inspection is designed to check the vehicle to make sure that its important auto parts are in a good (not top) condition that is enough for safe road use.
It includes:
  • wheels and tires
  • mirrors
  • steering, suspensions and braking systems
  • seats and seatbelts
  • lights and reflectors
  • windscreen, and windows including front wipers and washers
  • vehicle structure
  • other safety related items on the body, chassis or engine.

The roadworthy test is designed to make sure your vehicle is suitable for the roads as per the guidelines set out by the Department of Transport. However, it doesn’t test if your vehicle is healthy.
For example, a roadworthy doesn’t include an inspection of your oil, motor or gearbox.
For a comprehensive report of your vehicle’s health, you should book in for a full vehicle inspection.

Pre purchase vehicle inspection

Buying a used car?
You need someone you can trust in your corner.
Used-car buyers expect their purchase to provide a reasonable degree of dependable, trouble-free motoring for at least a few years.

While some buyers are looking for a project car to restore or race, and may know their way around a car, they are only a tiny raction of motorists in the market for a ‘pre-loved’ car.

Most buyers are not mechanics by profession, and they may not know much about the inner workings of a car, yet many of those buyers hand over the cash for a used car without making the effort to ensure it will be a reliable car for their purposes.

Our mechanics at G&J Auto Mechanic and Inspection Station will check the car you’re planning to purchase for any engine faults, interior defects and pre-existing accident damage and rust. Numbered among those interior defects are climate control systems, seatbelts, locks, warning lights and other gadgets.
Included in the price is a Carsales Facts+ history report, a detailed history of the car since new.

COI Inspection

Certificate of Inspection (COI) vehicles (such as heavy vehicles, licensed tow trucks, buses, taxis, limousines and booked hire vehicles) registered in Queensland may need to have a periodic or programmed inspection to check minimum vehicle safety standards.
A COI is issued when the vehicle passes the inspection.

Owners of registered COI vehicles must have a current COI at all times, unless exempt.
You will not be able to renew your registration until you have a current COI, so it pays to plan to have your vehicle checked for defects and book the inspection before the expiry date.

The vehicle must be presented in a clean condition and free of excessive grease to ensure the components can be inspected.
The vehicle should be checked for defects and have any necessary repairs completed before presentation for a COI to prevent the need for a re-inspection.
